East Grand Rapids Ranked Best Suburb in Michigan

Gaslight Village

The City of East Grand Rapids was named the best suburb in Michigan by Business Insider.

The rating took into consideration attributes such as cost of living, public school quality, percentage of residents with at least a bachelor’s degree and the community’s overall real estate market strength. Additional factors such as average commute, crime rates and access to amenities also were considered.

The rankings were determined from a list of best suburbs in the U.S. released by Niche, a company that researches and compiles information on schools and places to live.

East Grand Rapids ranked 62 overall on the list of 100. Birmingham, which came in at 96, was the only other Michigan suburb to be featured on the list.

“Amenities like Reeds Lake and Gaslight Village coupled with a strong school system, robust real estate market and low crime rate keep our residents here and attract new ones,” Mayor Amna Seibold said. “This ranking just confirms the effort our entire community puts into making East Grand Rapids a better place to live.”
