East Grand Rapids Public Safety Urges Residents to Lock Vehicles

Lock your doors

Over the last few weeks, there has been an increased number of vehicle break-ins in East Grand Rapids.

Many of the incidents have been focused on the southeast side of the City, near Breton Village. The incidents ranged from vehicles break-ins and larceny to, in one incident, a vehicle being stolen. EGR Public Safety believes the incidents all took place around midnight. At this time, there are no suspects. In each case, car doors were unlocked.

The EGR Public Safety Dept. is asking that all residents:

• Always lock doors and windows
• If you see any suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, call 9-1-1 immediately
• Keep a record of serial numbers from your electronics and jewelry – this will help detectives track down stolen items on databases
• When leaving for extended periods of time have your mail checked and leave lights on.

If you ever have any questions or have information on these incidents, please contact our Public Safety Dept. at 616.949.7010.

EGR Public Safety encourages residents to call 9-1-1 if they see suspicious behavior and to always lock car doors.

If you ever have any questions or have information on these incidents, please contact the EGR Public Safety at 616.949.7010.
