Small Cell/DAS

Before any telecommunications contractor can install DAS/Small Cell Wireless Facility equipment in the city right-of-way, a permit must be issued by the City of East Grand Rapids under approved ordinances. On November 4, 2019, the East Grand Rapids City Commission approved amendments to Chapter 50 Section 5.75E and Chapter 79D for the regulation of DAS/Small Cell Wireless Facilities. These city ordinances are in compliance with State of Michigan PA 365 and FCC Order 18-133. The City of East Grand Rapids was a member of the Grand Valley Metro Council (GVMC) DAS Consortium which was established to create a uniform regulation and permitting process between Grand Rapids Metropolitan communities. Information on the GVMC DAS Consortium can be found here.
