The week of May 16-22 is recognized by the American Public Works Association as National Public Works Week. Although unable to host its regular Touch-a-Truck event due to the ongoing pandemic, EGR Public Works will showcase equipment through a rolling parade throughout the City on Thursday, May 20 from 11:20 a.m. to 12:08 p.m. In coordination with EGRPS, Public Works' fleet will pass by the elementary school playgrounds during recess, allowing the young students to safely enjoy the trucks and equipment. The rolling parade will take place within a few blocks of all EGR homes so residents with little ones can also enjoy from home or sidewalks. View the parade route which includes approximate time markers.
This rolling parade is also coordinated effort with other Public Works agencies in Kent County including its Road Commission and the cities of Kentwood, Rockford and Wyoming.
This year’s NPWW theme is "Stronger Together," challenging citizens to think about the role public works plays in creating a great place to live, work and play. By working together, the impact citizens and public works professionals can have on their communities is magnified and results in the ability to accomplish goals once thought unattainable.
