East Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 21, 2021 – The City of East Grand Rapids’ 42nd Annual Reeds Lake Run will take place this Saturday, June 26.
This community-favorite race kicks off at 8 a.m. at the EGR Community Center, 750 Lakeside Drive. The event features a 5K run or walk, 1-mile Family Fun Run and the Shaggy Pines Doggie Dash, which allows runners or walkers to participate in a 5K with their dogs.
“We’re beyond excited to welcome professional and amateur athletes as well as everyone in between back to the racecourse after a year off,” said Betsy Granstra, EGR Parks and Recreation aquatic supervisor and race director. “In addition to being ready to ease back into normal activity, we know many community members set new fitness goals throughout the pandemic that we can’t wait to cheer on. It will be so wonderful to safely gather as a community and kick off the summer together.
Registration is open online and in-person at the EGR Parks and Recreation Department located within the Community Center. Late registration and packet pickup are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. June 25 and 6:30-8:15 a.m. June 26 at the Community Center.
Until June 22, the registration cost for the 5K run/walk and Shaggy Pines Doggie Dash is $30 each. It’s $35 for the Family Fun Run. Starting June 23, the 5K run/walk and Shaggy Pines Doggie Dash registration is $35 each.
The 2021 racecourse has been modified from previous years due to road construction. Racers, residents and community members can view the course map, register for the Reeds Lake Run, sign up to volunteer and find more information at reedslakerun.com.
