East Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Announces Lineups for Summer Concerts and Movies in the Park Series
The East Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department has announced the lineups for both of its all-ages summertime entertainment series, Concerts and Movies in the Park.
The free event series will be held at John Collins Park on select Monday and Friday evenings. Concerts in the Park will feature local music talent, while Movies in the Park will showcase movies for all ages. John Collins Park, 650 Lakeside Drive SE, offers a beautiful setting for both series overlooking Reeds Lake.
“The EGR Parks and Recreation Department is excited to again offer the Concerts and Movies in the Park series to our community,” said Rachel Fiedler, leisure supervisor. “These popular events are made possible with the help of our sponsors, The Brouwers Agency, Auto-Owners Insurance and Friends of the EGR Library. We look forward to another summer of neighbors, friends and families coming together for great music and fun movies in a unique setting at John Collins Park.”
On six select Monday evenings in June and July, the Concert in the Park series will feature a variety of musical genres from 7-8:30 p.m. This year’s lineup is:
Movies in the Park will take place on four Friday evenings, with each film beginning at sundown. This year’s movie lineup is:
- June 9 – “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile”
- July 7 – “DC League of Super-Pets”
- July 21 – “Top Gun: Maverick”
- Aug. 11 – “Shazam (2019)”
“Our Concerts and Movies in the Park lineups have something for everyone to enjoy,” said Pam Slater, leisure supervisor. “We invite the community to come out and enjoy beautiful summer evenings along Reeds Lake.”
In the event of rain or high winds, the events will be canceled and not rescheduled. Updates will be provided on the Parks and Recreation Department Facebook page.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets and to arrive early to secure a spot. Barbeques, grilling, open fires or alcohol are not allowed in the park and dogs must be leashed.
